Art Room Update

It's been busy in the Middle School art room!  Our students are displaying their highest level of creativity and craftsmanship as they develop original works of art!
5th graders just finished a unit on Henry Moore, developing abstract human figures out of red clay with fabulous glazes to finish them off.  They are now learning about Andy Warhol and his movement of Pop Art!  Each student will design a pop art print creating multiple prints of their selected object.
6th graders are also looking at Pop Art and focusing their efforts on beautifully sculpted desserts, inspired by painter Wayne Theibaud.  After hand building with clay, they will learn how to paint their sculptures using only the primary colors with black and white acrylic.
7th grade students explored the style of art nouveau and are now developing highly detailed outfits and backgrounds for their scratchboard figures.  Their skill and meticulous technique resemble the work of many nouveau artists of the late 1800's and early 1900's!
Be sure to join us at our annual Middle School Gallery Night on April 29th from 6:30-8:30 to see all of our student's amazing work on display!
