Art Room Update

The first quarter is almost done!  Can you believe it?  We've done some amazing work in the art room this quarter.  The fifth graders completed their fauvist watercolors and created covers for their art binders using the letters of their name for inspiration.  Check out some watercolor examples in the video below.

Sixth graders have moved from radial designs into the art of comics, designing original superheroes.  They are doing an amazing job developing proportional human figures, building muscle structure, adding animal characteristics and designing some super cool costumes!  I can't wait to see the final results.  The seventh grade class completed their art nouveau scratchboards and are now exploring various art movements from the 20th century.  After listing to a brief art history lecture where they learned about Impressionism through Optical art, students selected an artist from a movement they were interested in to research further.  Their research will be presented in the form of a Glog.  Students are loving this new program as a way to create a digital poster about their selected artist.  Watch for some examples in the coming weeks!
