Imaginative Interiors

Over the last few months, it was becoming quite apparent that our "leather" couch, which we purchased over 10 years ago, was nearing the end of it's days as a signature piece of furniture in our living/family room.  The multiple scraps and scratches and peeling leather was a true sign that this couch had served it's purpose and was ready for relocation...to the basement!  With a now half empty room, I was charged with the task of finding a replacement for our family couch.  This was no easy task! I came to realize that once you start to replace one item of a room, everything else starts to look like it, too.  I was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. But where to turn?Ah yes, the internet!  In my search to find the perfect couch, loveseat, accent chairs and end tables,  I stumbled upon the most fabulous app, Homestyler. Instantly, I was addicted!  I could layout a floor plan based upon the measurements of my own living room and incorporate various structural elements like windows and doorways.  I could also add in furniture, painted walls and room accessories to design the space to my liking.  What a perfect way to plan my room, virtually before I set foot in an actual furniture store.  And the best part of all this, while I was sharing my excitement and enthusiasm for such a cool program, my husband says, "Hey, wouldn't that make a cool art binder assignment for your students?"  And so here you have it, the last Smilebox of the year showcasing some fantastic interiors!
