My 7th graders are moving into their final project of the semester, a unit I like to call Artists Through Time. I begin with a lecture looking briefly at some of the more popular 20th century art movements, beginning with Impressionism and ending with Optical art. After learning some key facts about each, students are to select one artist from a movement they are interested in researching further. Students are then given criteria to use as a basis for guided research in order to learn more about their selected artist. The information they gather needs to be presented in one of the following ways, a Glog, Powerpoint, Prezi or Pages Presentation. The goal of their research is to ultimately assist the student in learning the artist style and technique so that they can attempt to paint like that artist. Once they feel confident in their research, students will plan a design inspired by their artist's style that they will paint onto a 12inch record and turn into a working clock. I will be posting more of their presenstations as they finish, but here is one example so far.
