I encourage students in all grades to participate in this contest as it is a fabulous way to showcase your talents and creativity! You can click here for a direct link to their website, to download contest forms and read over contest rules.
Here are a few important tips to remember when creating your Google Logo.
STEP ONE:
Your drawing should represents a personal narrative. You should think about these questions when you begin to PLAN what your best day ever will look like.
- Who are you with?
- What are you doing?
- Where are you?
- When is it? (past, present, future?)
- Why is it your Best Day Ever?
Take a look at famous picture books & illustrators as inspiration:
(I will try to get copies of these books to have in my art room for you to look at as well)
- Flotsam by David Weisner
- The Invention of Hugo Cabret byBrian Selznick (be sure to scroll until you see the click here on his site - it will take you to amazing drawings!)
- Sea of Dreams by Dennis Nolan
- Trainstop by Barbara Lehman
- Using the blank Google Logo, you can begin to design. I would start lightly in pencil with basic shapes, then build in the detail and finally add color
- Remember your rules for good craftsmanship, creativity and composition
- Balance color, be bold and color
STEP THREE:
- Complete your personal statement
- Title your doodle and (2) write a supporting statement (50 words max) explaining how your doodle portrays the theme "My Best Day Ever..."
- Make sure all your information is filled out correctly and you have a parent signature
STEP FOUR:
- Submit your artwork and paperwork in the box outside of Mrs. Markwald's artroom by Friday March 15th (the last day before spring break)
OR
- you can scan and upload your artwork and forms directly on the Doodle for Google site
